From Ashes to Restoration...

As you may have heard and may have even seen on the news, this morning around 6:00 a.m., our new A&O House construction site was destroyed by fire. If you’ve been by the church recently or have kept up with our eChimes or social media posts, you’ve seen the exciting progress that had been made on the house. With the framing complete and a second story in place, the roof was the most recent step in the construction progress. In fact, two weeks ago, we shot a video from inside of the house with a group of middle school kids who were so excited about what was to come for their beloved ministry. So many kids in our church and in our Amarillo community have been positively impacted by the ministry of A&O. Although we are upset, we know that God is still in control, and God will be glorified through this entire ordeal (Romans 8:28).

Please be in prayer for our A&O kids, our contractor and crews, our staff, and everyone who has been a crucial part in our monumental GROW Across Generations Campaign. We have undoubtedly seen God work amazingly as our people have come together to financially support and pray for not only the brick and mortar of this project, but the bigger idea of what this entire campaign means to First Pres, our community here locally and around the world, and Christ’s Kingdom. We still firmly feel God’s call to this campaign and to this project as He has put steps in place along the way. We are being asked to trust the Lord and lean only on His understanding, and we humbly ask you to join us in that effort (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The Family Ministries team, specifically, is clinging to this verse:

“…to grant to those who mourn in Zion – to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that HE MAY BE GLORIFIED.”

                                                                                                           - Isaiah 61:3

It’s not coincidence that our children and youth have been studying the Story of God, journeying from creation, to the fall, to redemption, all the way to RESTORATION! God is working. We believe he’s preparing our hearts and minds to understand how He fulfills His promise to make all things new.

There are a lot of unknowns at this time. We know that there will definitely be unexpected costs as we start over. Our work schedule has been changed dramatically to say the least. Even in this hard time, we’ve already seen God working through some amazing friends who have stepped up, without us even asking, and given generously to help us in our time of need. Thanks for your faithful support as we continue to move forward and seek to reach the next generation for the Kingdom of Christ. (Jeremiah 29:11).
