He's been on staff since 2004. He and his wife, Diana, have a Schnauzer and lots of cats! Norman has served as a church musician for 40 years serving many churches in many denominations and has culled the best things from those experiences. He brings that cumulative experience to First Pres. Norman loves the Christ-centered, scripture-based teaching, preaching and singing at First Pres. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7. At age five, Norman began piano studies with his mother, Doris. At age 14 he began studying pipe organ playing and continued organ study through high school. He attended Texas Tech University, studying organ with Dr. Judson Maynard and choral conducting with Gene Kenny and Dr. Donald Bailey. He received his Bachelor of Music in organ performance in 1982. Having married Diana House of Amarillo in 1981, the couple traveled to Brazil working the entire year of 1982 and doing missionary work. They helped career Baptist missionaries establish churches and develop church music programs in the interior of the country along the Trans-Amazonic Highway. They both learned to speak Portuguese fluently. Upon their return to the USA, Norman began work on a Masters Degree in organ performance, which he received in 1986, once again from Texas Tech. In 1986, Norman won the First Prize, Graduate Division in the Wm. C. Hall Pipe Organ Playing Competition in San Antonio, TX, a state-wide contest involving students from all the major universities. • Shauneen Hatfield

Home / / About Our People / Staff STAFF / / / Home About Our People Staff / (806)350-5209 Shauneen Hatfield Administrative Assistant for Intergenerational Ministries Shauneen Hatfield is the Administrative Assistant to Kim Talley, the Assistant Pastor of Intergenerational Ministries. Shauneen has been married to her sweetheart, Biff, since 1974, and together they have one son, Scot. She also has a stepdaughter, Cheree, and a daughter-in-law, Lynn….both of whom she loves as her own. Her sweetest thing in life is the closeness of family, including their six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren! Biff and Shauneen have been members of First Pres since 2001, during which time she has served as an elder twice—once from 2006-2008, and most recently 2017-2020. She has also served on the Women’s Committee and helped our Women's Director coordinate Women’s Bible Studies. One of Shauneen's greatest joys has been leading sweet women in several different studies—what a gift that has been! She also has a great passion for missions and serves on the World Missions Team and has participated in mission trips to Louisiana after hurricane Katrina, and with a group who went to La Paz, Bolivia. Biff and Shauneen helped with the Rick Husband House build through Habitat for Humanity, and it was a huge honor for her to serve our amazing staff for the past three years through being a member of the Personnel Committee. Shauneen and Biff are members of NUFF’s and the Parlor Sunday School group led by Dan Carter and Orlando Lopez. They love their First Pres Family and cherish worshiping together at any of the three fantastic worship services, but most often, you’ll find them at the 11:05 service. After working in the education field for 25 years, Shauneen retired so she could better care for her dad and help him navigate his life with Alzheimer’s disease. After her sweet daddy went to his heavenly home, she began to feel a little bit at lost ends. So eleven years after retiring, she began praying about the perfect part-time job. She thought that the perfect job would be working at First Presbyterian Church and to serve her church family! Her prayers for many months included asking God that, if it was His will, to please open a door so that she could work at First Pres. Oh how sweetly He answered her prayers! She truly looks forward to serving the children and youth of our church and community and prays that through her work she can be used as God’s conduit through which His love flows onto other people. She is eternally grateful for this opportunity! She joyfully proclaims one of her favorite Bible verses: “I love You, Lord; You are my strength!” (Psalm 18:1) To Him and Him alone she gives all the glory, honor, and praise!
