Angel Tree 2020 For over 10 years, our church family has loved, supported, and encouraged families in Amarillo through Prison Fellowship. Year after year, the Deacons called each family and check on them. They confirmed the needs and requests sent by the imprisoned parent with the current caregiver, and then our amazing church families chose angels from the tree and shopped to ensure each child would know they were not forgotten and that each child would truly know they were loved at Christmas. Presents wrapped in prayers and paper were returned to the church and then checked and sorted in preparation for the party. On a December Saturday morning for ten years, Christmas came early to “prison orphaned” children. Cookies were consumed. Pizza was gobbled. Carbonated caffeine was guzzled. Most importantly, the hope of the Christmas story was shared in word and deed. This year, amidst the pandemic, our church had the choice to let Prison Fellowship do all the work: the contacting, the checking, the gift card purchasing, and the delivery of the gifts. In our hearts, we knew this wasn’t how Jesus called us to serve. He didn’t simply send us salvation or deliver it through angelic mail. He came. He loved. He served. We want to be like Jesus! Therefore, within the parameters of the pandemic, we are still going to love and serve. We are going to keep our “angels” and members safe. In the Great Hall, you will still find a tree with Angel names, but instead of taking a name from the tree and shopping, you will donate $35 toward a Walmart gift card. Donations are due by December 13. . These gift cards will be stuffed in sacks full of candy and treats. Each gift and a pizza will be given to our angels on Saturday, December 19, from 11:00 a.m. – noon during our Drive-by Angel Tree Parade. Please join us. We are looking forward to loving and serving like Jesus. Even a pandemic can’t stop His love! If you have questions, please contact Anita Goodrum at 350-5202. You can donate online here

Masks Now Required AT ALL TIMES inside the Building In light of the high hospitalization rate and high number of active COVID cases in our area, our Session met last week to see how our church should respond to our Mayor’s plea as well as many local doctors’ plea for people to wear masks at all times in public. Following the counsel of local medical officials and after much prayer, the Session made the following decisions: Session decided that, “While we are in Level Red, whenever we gather publicly in our building, .” This, of course, means that we will need to wear masks throughout the entirety worship services, Sunday school classes, and Wednesday night classes. Wearing masks at all times is the best way to prevent the spread of COVID 19 according to local health officials. we will wear masks except when we eat, and we will maintain six feet of social distance between our family and others Session also voted that while we are in LEVEL RED, we will “ ” eliminate food service on Wednesday Nights. Groups that have been meeting together in homes on Wednesday nights will now need to ZOOM into the Parlor from their own individual homes to avoid the risk of further spread. The Session also voted that “ ” A quick way to establish six feet of distance can be determined by having both people spread out their arms. If they can do that and are not touching each other, they are close to six feet apart. when we return to Level Orange, we will return to our most recent practice of wearing masks in the building as you would at a restaurant (wearing masks in public places and while singing but removing them when you are seated and socially distanced) and only taking them off once you sit down and when at least six feet of social distance has been established. Session voted on November 16 to have this coming Sunday as our last timer all Sunday schools to meet until January 10 to help limit exposure in close quarters. As always, you can call the church office for information as well. Sunday school, Wednesday Nights, and Bible studies ending until January 10
