Austin, Led by Holly Haines (949) 939-0094 So many people try to read thru the Bible and then get stuck when they hit Leviticus. The Priestly Laws can seem so random and hard to understand. It becomes a stumbling block that can stop us on our journey through Scripture. But the New Testament is filled with references to Leviticus and Jesus quotes it often. So perhaps it’s time we take another look at those priestly laws with the eyes of Jesus and dig deeper into how they are interpreted for us by all the New Testament writers. Join us to study this intriguing book together. Contact Emily Wood @ 806-418-0404 or The listed small group leader for more information ADULTS Women Singles Men Senior Adults Family & Adult OTHER INTERESTS Studies and Groups Worship Grow Connect Serve What is CONNECT Mentoring Ministry? It is a ministry o f love. Committed older Godly women from First Presbyterian Church who desire to connect with younger women in prayerfully matched pairs will establish one-on-one relationships as they walk together through life in Christ. These pairs will meet regularly to discover spiritual gifts, share accomplishments, joys, frustrations, failures, and fellowship. The wisdom and Biblical legacies the mentors have will demonstrate to the younger women how to know God more intimately, to establish a lifestyle that includes Jesus, and to build a legacy founded on Christ. Connecting with one another now will build Christ-centered legacies that will bless families and the church today as well as the generations of tomorrow. If this ministry is one you would like to be a part of, please email Emily at emilyw@firstpres.com First Pres Women's Leadership Click here . • Nominating Officers for 2024 | Firstpres

WE HAVE ONLY RECEIVED A HANDFUL OF NOMINATION FORMS, AND WE NEED YOUR HELP NOMINATING FAITHFUL MEMBERS WITH HEARTS TO SERVE! Our officers lead and enable much of the ministry done in and through FirstPresbyterian Church. Who do you know that would be a good candidate for the office of Elder, Deacon, Trustee, or CNC Member at Large? You can email your recommendations to cnc@firstpres.com , drop the forms in an offering plate, or bring the form in to the Church Office during the week. We need your help identifying who in our Congregation would make a great leader! Deadline for nominations is July 24, 2022. If you're not sure what is required of the officer roles, you can read more below: WHO MAKES A GOOD ELDER? Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel as they seek to shepherd God's people. It's the duty of Elders, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the Congregation. Together with the Pastors, Elders prayerfully seek to discern God's vision for First Pres Amarillo. As a part of this vision, Elders encourage people in the worship of God and work to connect them to the body of Christ. As shepherds of God's people, Elders care for the flock, with special attention to the sick, the lonely, and those who are oppressed. They will assist in worship and cultivate their ability to teach the Bible and may be authorized to preach where the regular ministry of the Word and Sacrament is unavailable. WHO MAKES A GOOD DEACON? The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. Persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly and sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment should be chosen for this office. Deacons are servant leaders who help mobilize our church for service in Amarillo and around the world. Deacons serve as the chief operating officers of First Pres Amarillo with the responsibility for carrying out the vision of the church by means of its mission and program ministry. As a part of First Pres' GROW and SERVE strategies, Deacons help provide opportunities for the members of the church to GROW and SERVE both inside and outside the walls of the church. They help plan and lead special events that help our church members use their God given gifts for ministry. WHO MAKES A GOOD TRUSTEE? Trustees have the primary responsibility of stewarding resources to carry out the vision of the Session. The new Board of Trustees will serve as the chief financial officers of First Pres. Working with the Communications, Stewardship, Finance, and Properties committees, the Trustees help raise and manage the necessary capital to do the work of God's Kingdom by means of the mission and ministries of First Pres Amarillo. WHO MAKES A GOOD CNC MEMBER? Working with the two Elders and Deacon on the Church Nominating Committee, the CNC Members at Large prayerfully discern whom the Lord is calling to serve as the next class of Elders, Deacons, Trustees, and CNC Members at Large.

OUR DENOMINATION: ECO Home / About / ECO FIRST PRES TO CHANGE DENOMINATIONS Congregational Meeting Vote: 438 - 16 (96.5% to 3.5%) to Join ECO Bylaws/Articles Affirmed 438 - 14 with 2 Abstentions In a standing-room-only congregational meeting Wednesday evening, more than 500 attendees heard Rev. Howard Griffin summarize events of the past two weeks leading up to the historic vote to disaffiliate from the PC(USA) and join ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. Elder Cole Camp described his experience in attending an ECO gathering. Members in favor of joining ECO lined up to speak for two minutes each. No one spoke in favor of remaining in the PC(USA). Elder David Mullin explained the ballot, and the congregation voted. Elders gathered the ballots and several retired to count them. David Mullin also read a letter hand-delivered the day of the vote from Palo Duro Presbytery outlining Presbytery's objections to FPC's departure from the PC(USA). When Bonnie Rogers, clerk of session, read the vote tally, a cheer went up for the recommendation to join ECO. Learn more about ECO here . WHAT IS ECO (COVENANT ORDER OF EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIANS)?
